Bay Area fans filled the house on a Monday evening to celebrate and welcome the opening of Motown The Musical, playing at the Orpheum Theater through September 28.

The evening opened with a reception and photo opportunities with the Motown The Musical cast. San Francisco Supervisor London Breed followed with remarks and a special commendation. The audience was then treated to selected cast performances and a classic soul revue by local group Top Shelf that had everyone on their feet.

Proceeds from the event benefited Project LEVEL at the African American Art & Culture Complex, and The San Francisco Arts Education Project.
