The Concourse Exhibition Center in the design district was transformed into a stunning sea of red during the 2013 Red Cross ‘Hope by Design’ Gala, hosted by the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter. Guests were treated to cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions, dancing, and a spectacular musical performance by eight-time Grammy award-winning R&B icon Gladys Knight. The theme of this year’s gala reflected the fact that even when disaster strikes, thanks to the American Red Cross we still have hope. The event, which was co-chaired by Susan Atherton and Gwyneth Borden, raised a total of $1.3 million for local Red Cross disaster readiness and response efforts that spread hope in the local community. More than 800 members of the Bay Area philanthropic and corporate community contributed, making it the most successful year on record for the American Red Cross Bay Area. During the event, Lloyd Dean, the President and CEO of Dignity Health, was presented the 2013 Humanitarian CEO of the Year Award for his commitment to providing immediate humanitarian assistance to those in need. - Haute Living [more]
