Professional Background: Started career as a Silicon Valley engineer, moved to fitness industry as a trainer and also explored marketing interest. Some years and many clients later landed position as a Vice President (marketing) at Charles Schwab. After Schwab started a marketing and communication services business which also publishes theREGISTRY Bay Area.

Job(s) held that is most unlike what I currently do now: Cleaned parking lots at Jack-in-the-Box. Helped build/strike traveling circuses. Worked on the food service line in the college cafeteria.

Significant Challenge: Helping potential advertisers understand that African American consumers are not limited to products/experiences of African/African American origin.
Significant Mistake/Regret: Getting admitted, and then passing on Harvard Business School. Who does that?
Significant Accomplishment: Embracing the internet and launching a successful business that relies on it.
Biggest Strength(s): Endurance, attention to detail, market sense, positive attitude.
Biggest Weakness(es): Staffing (need more manpower), too much attention to detail.
Career Advice: Avoid procrastination. Listen. Don’t let your image get in the way of becoming your image. Smile a lot. People do business with those they know, like and trust.

Significant Challenge: Appearing friendly. I can look unapproachable when in fact I’m completely at ease and in a great mood.

Among several global issues of deep concern, one(s) that stands out to me: Hunger and homelessness
Some causes/organizations I support: Alameda County Community Food Bank, prostate cancer, MoAD.
Some of my most-admired people (excluding parents): Vernon Jordan – quiet yet powerful influence, great orator. Willie Brown – always commands attention/respect, strategic thinker, lives life.

Hours of “personal” downtime/week: 14…gotta work on that.
Favorite activity(s) in my personal downtime: Playing with my kids, the beach (kites, walks, relax), exploring new restaurants/bars.

Favorite Pastime/Hobby(s): Travel (long overdue), kite flying (I find it relaxing), cooking (bbq), a bottle of wine shared among friends.
