Nearly 400 people attended the Silicon Valley Black Chamber of Commerce’s 1st Annual Blacks ‘n Business, Blacks ‘n Technology Awards Ceremony, Saturday May 29 at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara.
The event recognized African Americans who’ve made inroads in the fields of business and technology in Silicon Valley, in keeping with the chamber’s new commitment to supporting tech diversity efforts. A portion of proceeds benefited college students.
The keynote address was given by Carol H. Williams, President and CEO of Carol H. Williams Advertising Agency. The guests were thrilled to see Ms. Williams, stunning as usual, and anxious to hear her share pearls of wisdom about the journey that continues for her as a entrepreneur in the 21st Century. No doubt many were inspired by Ms. Williams’ speech and some shared how they will ‘hang in there and not give up’ after hearing her speak.
The Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1986 with a mission to identify, create and expand economic development opportunities for African-Americans and minorities in Silicon Valley.
