BPN hosts We Define the Narrative #CreatingANewStereotype launch event. #CreatingANewStereotype is a movement that’s helping to shift the narrative and encouraging young men of color to step into their excellence. Young men earn their suits by successfully completing training and educational workshops on topics ranging from community organizing, job readiness, overcoming trauma, brotherhood, to privilege and power. The culmination of the young men earning their suits shall come when the students walk down Market Street, with supporters and mentors right behind them. This will be an exercise of our young men walking into their excellence.

The program featured an all star panel of speakers.

1. Meet Cliff Worley Bay Area native and Chief Digital Officer at Shark Branding where he oversees various Shark Tank projects and leading Daymond John’s top initiatives. Hear more about his story and how he’s paved the way to the top by helping small businesses and entrepreneurs find success in their personal and professional endeavors.

2. Meet Mycah Wilson of Genentech, who is a heroic champion of diversity. Hear her story and learn of ways that you can also take a stand in creating a new stereotype.

3. Meet Jules Walter, a product manager in San Francisco originally from Haiti. With a computer science degree from MIT and an MBA from Harvard, he is passionate about using technology to create a world in which everyone can pursue their dreams, regardless of their background. He’s also working closely with CodePath University – an initiative that provides college students from diverse backgrounds with free access to the same programming classes taught inside the world’s top companies including Facebook, Box, Slack. Hear more about his story and how he’s helping to making major impact in the community! For more information about BPN visit Facebook.
