Oakland, CA – On Saturday, July 26, the 7th annual “An Intimate Evening” event returns with live music, fine cuisine & wine, carriage rides, a martini lounge, vintage cars, community recognition awards and more. This festive fundraiser for the Oakland Parks & Recreation Department (OPR) will entertain guests from throughout the Bay Area for an evening of purposeful play at the Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate, 2960 Peralta Oaks Court, from 6 to 11 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear all-white attire for this festive evening.
“Oakland and Bay Area residents can immerse themselves in this entertaining event while helping provide recreation services to our youth,” said Audree V. Jones-Taylor, Oakland Parks & Recreation Director. “With live music, dancing, fine cuisine and tasty vintages, ‘An Intimate Evening’ is the perfect way for adults to ‘Come Out and Play the OPR Way’.”

The evening will be capped off with a rousing performance by Martin Luther, a dynamic soul singer with a heavy rock sound who traverses the soundscape of classic Soul/R&B and hip hop. For folks who want to go beyond swaying to the music, there will be line dancing along with lessons in Salsa, Chicago-Stepping and Folk dance.
While grooving to the tunes, guests will be able to sample tasty food and sip the latest vintages from local purveyors such Blue Heron, Checkers, Culinary Excellence, Dorsey’s Locker, Emerald Catering, Indian Sweet, LaBonne Cuisine, LaCafe Roule, Market Hall Caterers, Miraglia Catering, Red Door Catering, Royal Raspberry, Scott’s Seafood, Trumpet Vine, Venga Paella, Bartenders Unlimited, Coco’s Cocktails, Drake Brewing, Eat, Drink, Go Do, Enat Winery, Rockwall wine Company, Rosenbum Cellars and others. The event will also feature a martini lounge.
Rounding out the evening are carriage rides around the 40-acre estate, Great Gatsby-era classic car displays and a community recognition program to acknowledge those groups and individuals who have made a significant impact in Oakland.
Hosted by OPR, funds raised at “An Intimate Evening” will aid in the expansion of program offerings to ensure educationally enriching social activities for Oakland’s at-risk youth and community. The event showcases the connection of community to parks and recreation and demonstrates the essential role that OPR plays in community health, wellness and public safety while exposing, enlightening, empowering and encouraging educational excellence through recreation experiences.
The event is a major highlight of OPR’s celebration of July’s National Park and Recreation Month, which includes more than 75 events that showcase OPR’s programs and services for youth and families at recreation centers, pools, sports facilities and other venues throughout Oakland.
