Leading the festivities was BUILDUP founder Wayne Sutton, one of the 46 most important African Americans in Tech and the main driver behind the event. The goal was to foster stronger ties between these groups that share a common vision. In Wayne’s recent USA Today article he covers the importance of collaboration to promote more diversity in tech (he also mentions this inaugural event as a step in bringing people together).
