Happy Hour | Panel | Art | After Party: SOMAR

Popular culture has been producing the same images and ideas of blackness for many years. New platforms, channels, technology and access to resources have made it possible for black creatives left out of traditional institutions to create work that is more reflective of ourselves and our communities. Come join The MoAD Vanguard and a panel of black creatives who are breaking down conventional barriers and creating art that spans a variety of different fields and forms. Panel participants—a diverse set of creatives—will answer the question: What does it mean to be a black creative? While discussing their unique experience in the creative space, how their work benefits the communities they serve and what it’s like being a black creative in the current cultural climate.

Cocktail Hour: 6:00-7:00pm • Panel: 7:00 8:00pm • Q&A: 8:00pm-8:45pm. • After party: 9 pm – until.

Panel Participants:

• Terence Nance, Director/Filmmaker

• Brittany Luse, Creator, For Colored Nerds (Podcast)

• Numa Perrier, Black and Sexy TV
