Creativity Explored (CE), the premier nonprofit visual art center and gallery for artists with developmental disabilities, is pleased to present Fragments + Resistance, a new collaboration that explores the intersection of politics and artistic practice.

In a tumultuous political climate, the voices of artists on the margin continue to provide unique perspectives and insight into navigating the distinctly American tensions of race, class, nationality, and personal identity.

Local artists, curators, and brothers Victor Cartagena and Carlos Cartagena center the voices of CE artists Joseph “JD” Green and John Iwaszewicz to explore, connect, and share their visions of resistance.

Fragments + Resistance features new paintings, drawings, multimedia sculptures and installations by Green and Iwaszewicz that challenge viewers to elevate and include the voices of artists with developmental disabilities in the critical discussions about America today and into the future.

The Opening Reception will take place on Thursday, September 19 at the Creativity Explored gallery. The Public Reception will take place from 7:00 pm to 9:00pm with a short talk by the curators and featured artists at 7:30 pm. The exhibition is on view through November 7, 2019.
