From Black Lives Matter and #SayHerName to Time’s Up and the ‘me too.’ movement, today’s youth are leading groundbreaking movements and making their voices heard.
The nationwide impact of March for Our Lives is just one more example of how young people are harnessing the power of an increasingly connected world to take the future into their own hands. Our first ever YBCA 100 youth gathering, Calling Youth to Power, provides a platform and creative space for young people to come together and tackle the issues that affect them today.

In collaboration with KQED and Youth Speaks, we will bring together hundreds of high school and college students for an afternoon dedicated to mobilizing collective power and being ignited by peers who are taking the future into their own hands.

Co-hosted by student and activist Naudika Williams and KQED’s Above the Noise host Myles Bess, Calling Youth to Power is tailored to youth under 24. The session kicks off with a performance by Oakland youth arts group, Young Gifted and Black, and features literacy advocate Jamarria Hall, Youth Speaks poets Leila Mottley and Luna Gutierrez, and more. This insightful youth town hall where America’s future is present at YBCA concludes with an energizing performance by Loco Bloco Youth Ensemble.
