Black Liberation Through Creation will be a festival for the arts hosted by the Stanford Black Community Services Center on February 28th from 4-7PM. The event will be free to the public and will feature special guest Nikki Giovanni at 6PM in a discussion on the role of the arts in achieving freedom for Black people. Before her talk the festival will commence at 4PM with soul food, art on display, and workshops led by local bay area artists: one in West African dance, one in natural hair product making, and one in the art of storytelling through the cypher. At 5PM once the workshops are finished, we have a Liberation concert lined up featuring several up and coming singers and rappers: Mylo Mu, The Outsiders, Young Gifted and Black, and Jessica Lá Rel.

All this is free and open to the public, and we hope that you all will come out and celebrate with us on the 28th. The venue is on Stanford’s campus in CEMEX Auditorium 641 Knight Wa y, Stanford CA 94305. To sign up for a workshop go to bcsc.stanford.edu and for any questions or concerns please call 443.462.7106.
