On Sat., Dec. 14, 2019, the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area will host its signature Annual Scholarship Benefit & Awards Gala at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, CA. The evening begins with a reception at 6:00pm, followed by awards and a dinner program at 7:30pm.

Stand up comedian / TV actor Don Reed will serve as this year’s program’s Master of Ceremonies who will be joined by featured speaker TV/Film star MORRIS CHESTNUT, and the following 2019 awards recipients:

* BRIAN SHAW – NBA All-Star [ Community Service - Individual Award ]

* ROBERT TOWNSEND – TV/Film Director/Actor/Comedian [Lifetime Achievement Award ]

* BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR SELF-SUFFICIENCY (BOSS) – [ Community Service - Non Profit Organization Award ]

* COCA COLA [ Community Service - Corporate Award ]

The Bay Area Chapter of 100 Black Men was established 31 years ago with the intention of improving the quality of life for African-Americans in the San Francisco Bay Area. With the support from individuals, businesses and corporate entities from throughout the Bay Area, the organization has been able meet its goals of making a powerful impact in underserved communities, illustrated as follows:

• Award more than $1,500,000 in scholarships to students attending prestigious institutions including Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Spelman, Morehouse and Northwestern;
• Mentor more than 300 at-risk youth, many of whom have become role models for their communities;
• Sponsor over 20 health and wellness programs, including cancer, prostate and HIV screenings, designed to highlight health issues that disproportionately affect the African-American community;
• Host an annual 100 Black Men Tommie Smith Youth Track Meet, which showcases the athletic ability of African-American youth ages 6 to 18;
• Organize 60+ seminars in the areas of entrepreneurship, environmental awareness and technology.

The 100 Black Men of the Bay Area, Inc. is proud to be recognized as one of the preeminent African-American organizations focused on improving the quality of life for African Americans. The organization’s impressive membership ranks reads like a “Who’s Who” of Bay Area men, and is comprised of prominent doctors, business owners, educators, media personalities and politicians. The group has a deep commitment to the community, and it focuses on five primary areas: Educational Scholarships, Youth Mentoring, Leadership Development, Health and Wellness and Economic Development.
